Right now I feel like one of those boxing ring announcers that you see on HBO or Showtime when announcing a new champion......AND THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS: BARACK OBAMA! Before I continue with my gloating, let me first say that as much crap that I have said about Sen. John McCain, he went out with class and style during his speech conceeding defeat to Obama. That is the John McCain of old - the one that SHOULD have manifested during this campaign instead of the one that sold his soul and his principles to that jackass Karl Rove and the rest of those ultra right-wing nuts that thrive off of negativity. Now with that said, I am proud of my fellow Americans for doing the right thing and electing someone that can help turn our country in the right direction. Is Barack Obama perfect? No. But in President-Elect Obama we have someone that is willing to use reason and wisdom in his decision-making as opposed to that stubborn mule soon to be known as Former President Bush. Also in our new 44th President we have an individual that inspires hope all across the color spectrum and that is important because the United States belongs to us all - and not just those of white color. We can all grow up to reach our dreams - our children need to know that and now they have a clear example of such. Some people scoff at hope, but in a world that is dominated by hoplessness - it's something that we can use a hell of a lot more of. Hope gives you something to look forward to and it can inspire the will and resolve to overcome hardship. Hope allows you to believe. Is President elect Barack Obama the answer to everything? No. But it is a step in the right direction for a nation that has been in dire need of hope for all of it's citizens. It's now time to fix this economy. Rich and well off folks that have been skating by will be called on to do their share. Now hopefully we can end this senseless war in Iraq and bring home our troops. And if we are to go after terrorist organizations - we can direct our troops to the right battles instead of making up a reason to invade a country that had no involvement in the 9/11 disaster. This election showed that we can all get involved in our country's issues.... young, old, male, female, white, black, hispanic, asian and so forth. Congratulations to our next President. Now it's time for us to get to work.....
