But I still love the hell out of her....
So by now you've probably heard about my future wife Alicia Keys insinuating a conspiracy theory about Gangsta Rap being created as a ploy to convince Black people to kill each other. And that Tupac & Biggie were killed by the government in order to prevent a Black leader from rising of exisiting. The entire music industry and fans around the world rolled their eyes and sighed upon hearing this.... including me. Not our Alicia... she seems so bright and intelligent (at least up to this point). You expect to hear stupid shit from Jessica Simpson, Britney and all of those other dumb bitches. But the worst part of it is not the statements, but the clarification or the "retraction" that came about after people started saying that Alicia was coo-coo for cocoa puffs. This past Tuesday she actually blamed Blender Magazine for "misrepresenting" her comments. She stated, "My comments about 'gangsta rap' were in no way trying to suggest that the government is responsible for creating this genre of rap music. The point that I was trying to make was that the term was over-sloganized by some of the media causing reactions that were not always positive. Many of the 'gangsta rap' lyrics articulate the problems of the artists' experiences and I think all of us, including our leaders, could be doing more to address these problems including drugs, gang violence, crime, and other related social issues.” My feelings are that she stated what she originally stated in that Blender interview. They recorded what they recorded and put it down word for word. This statement that was issued afterwards "reeks" of a publicist trying to do damage control. Trust me, I've dealt with plenty of them. Even if Alicia's thoughts were wacky, at least they were "hers" and as wacky as they seem, I can kind of respect that because they are geniune. In other words, we are getting the real deal and not some thought-up planned remark from a hired PR person. If Alicia really believes that Gangsta Rap is a conspiracy of the government, then baby, stick to it. Don't back-peddle for a PR person and don't pass the buck to a magazine who were recording you in a planned interview. Us fans will forget about it. Sure it might be a joke in a conversation every now and then, but it's no big deal. Us guys that are in love with you will continue to be smitten and wish to wife you. And the girls that admire you will continue to wish to be you (or be with you in a lesbian's case). Besides, I like a little militancy and who knows... maybe when it's all said and done, we will actually find out that the FBI ordered the deaths of Tupac and Biggie? Fight the Power!
