Sic Osyrus Interview
by Dub MD

Dub MD: Sic Osyrus, What's good?
Sic Osyrus: Everything good man, I'm alive and breathing, ready for another day.

Dub MD: For those who don't know, could you just give a short review of what you've experienced in your rap career up until now?
Sic Osyrus: I've been grinding it out for about 8 years, but the most progress has been in the last 2 years. I was nominated for the UMA Best Male Rapper Award in 2007, I've been featured on Allhiphop's 'Breeding ground', Hip Hop weekly's 'Indy Grind', YoRap's 'Next 2 Blow' , HipHopDX's 'DX Next' went up this week, Rap Fanatic's 'Warning Shots' as well as All Access DVD's next issue with Fat Joe on cover and many more.

I have also been featured on over 50 mixtapes in last 8 months including DJ Rhude XXL's 'We Got Now' Series and Bedtyme357's 'Hate Money Series'. Aside from that just travelling, ripping down stages and knocking out hit records in the studio.

Dub MD: Coming from Philadelphia, what do you think of the Philly music scene right now?
Sic Osyrus: It's cool, I think everyone wants to be the best wherever they are from, I'm trying to think a little bit further out the box than that. But Philly will always provide me with an influence, I was born there, a lot of thing happened in my life out there that has had a lasting impression, so I'm going to always hold Philly down. Big Shouts to all my Philly dudes man!

Dub MD: What do you think of the commercialisation of Hip Hop right now, do you think its showing respect to its pioneers?
Sic Osyrus: Hip Hop has transformed into a whole new animal. The average consumer that listens to hip hop today don't even know about the pioneers to respect them. If your 25 and over and paid attention to hip hop then you have to respect it. But these 16 year olds who think an artist with a vocoder is hip hop got it all wrong and need a history lesson.

Dub MD: Do you have a new solo album in the works? what's it called? and what can heads out there expect from it?
Sic Osyrus: Right now we are working on my solo album, but basically cataloging records. Its going to be called 'Straight Money'. You can expect a well rounded audio version of my life.

Dub MD: With this project, what artists & producers are you connecting with this time round?
Sic Osyrus: I already have records done with legendary producer Buckwild who did 'Lucky Me' for Jay Z and 'Whoa' for Black Rob, he has also worked with 50, Big L, Big Pun, B.I.G., so that's been a great experience. I also did a record with Platinum producer Amadeus who is part of the Bad Boy's Hitmen, he did records with 50, Talib, Jim Jones and many more.

Then I got my super producer Drawzilla who I do most of my recording with, he has worked with Remy Ma, Chrisette Michelle, Capone from CNN and more. I can't forget my other dudes Ryan, DJ Kep, Oz and Raf Moses. As far as features, I'm gonna keep that on the low and have y'all wait for the release.

Dub MD: You've got a new mixtape out right now called "Sic-O-Nomics 2", What's the story behind that mixtape series?
Sic Osyrus: Sic O Nomics is a way of living. You have to have confidence and know your music is undeniable. It all leads up to 'Straight Money'. Basically if you go into a store and pull out a check, a credit card or food stamps the store has a right to deny your purchase, however they cant deny cash. They cant deny my music.

It's 'Straight Money' on Volume 2 I have my man Skyzoo, as well as my G, Sha Stimuli and my peoples The League and it's hosted by mine and Remy Ma's DJ, Bedtyme357. Also Be on the lookout for 'Sic O Nomics' 2.5 with a special surprise Co host, as well as video footage from performances and what not

Dub MD: What's you label situation like just now?
Sic Osyrus: I'm signed to a production deal with J Hatch and Drawzilla at Inasirkl Music Group, they also handle my publicity and management responsibilities. I have my own A&R, Bless who helps me with my beat selection as well as my myspace presence, I have Jontel and Kevin who handle my online profiles and film everything I do, Khadejia handles my booking and publicity coordination, Drawzilla on the production coordination and Bedtyme357 getting my joints out to all the DJ's, then I got J Hatch who holds it down from the supervisory standpoint and makes sure everything's in place. We operate like a label, that's why we always say 'The Industry Gotta Problem', and that's with us!!

Dub MD: What do you think is your most defining and unique characteristic that sets you apart from every other emcee out there?
Sic Osyrus: Well, I never set myself aside by trying, I just stay true to me, no one else can be me but me. I also think I'm not afraid to share my life with people, a lot of rappers give you filler, I give you me. These guys aren't interesting enough to be themselves, so they play follow the leader. I'm not going to jeopardize my integrity as an artist and as a person to be something I'm not.

Dub MD: If you could describe yourself as an emcee in 4 words, What would they be?
Sic Osyrus: Descriptive. Passionate. Aggressive & Realistic.

Dub MD: For your fans who haven't seen you perform yet, are you planning on going on tour anytime soon?
Sic Osyrus: We are working on a few things, they can check my myspace (
www.myspace.com/sicosyrus1) out for all dates. I have a few shows in New York and Philly coming up as well as Greekfest in June.

Dub MD: What is on tap for Sic Osyrus for the rest of 2008 and beyond?
Sic Osyrus: Just create good music, get this buzz up and stay alive.

Dub MD: Do you have anything to say to the fans? anything you wanna get off your chest? any shout outs?
Sic Osyrus: Def wanna thank all my supporters, my whole team, all the mags, sites, DVD's, DJ's and people who continue to show love. Holla at ya bizzoy!
