Mickey Factz Interview
by Dub MD

Dub MD: Mickey Factz, What's good?
Mickey Factz: Same ol' shit, different toilet. Leaking all over the internet. (Laughs)

Dub MD: For those who don't know, could you just give a short review of what you've experienced in your rap career up until now?
Mickey Factz: 3 critically acclaimed mixtapes, countless magazine articles, sold out performances, red carpet treatment, guest appearances with gold / platinum artists and backlash from common folk. Gotta love it!

Dub MD: Coming from Bronx, what do you think of the New York music scene right now?
Mickey Factz: I think New York music is confused. The artists don't know how to be themselves. The artists don't know how to create their own sound and lane. Its just a lot of copying of what's "hot" instead of trying to be eclectic and brand a new sound. Don't worry though, there has to be a Shepard in every flock.

Dub MD: What do you think of the commercialisation of Hip Hop right now, do you think its showing respect to its pioneers?
Mickey Factz: Depends on how the pioneers receive respect. Are they happy with how progressive the art form has gotten: most likely. Are their bank accounts being respected for what has birthed another avenue for people to be successful in: Doubt it.

Dub MD: Do you have a new solo album in the works? what's it called? and what can heads out there expect from it?
Mickey Factz: Yes I do have a solo album I'm working on. Its called The New Museum. Fans can expect the consistency that embodies Mickey Factz. You will receive nothing but quality lyrics, extraordinary beats and an unique flow unlike no other.

Dub MD: With this project, what artists & producers are you connecting with this time round?
Mickey Factz: As far as producers, I've worked with GFCnewyork's own Precize, who's handling the bulk of the production, Illfonics and Ibe. When it comes to artists, The Cool Kids, Curtis Santiago, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Chester French etc. As the days continue, there's no telling who's gonna be on the final version.

Dub MD: You've got a new mixtape out right now called "The Leak Vol. 1" with Vol. 2 in the works, What's the story behind that mixtape series?
Mickey Factz: My A&R Steve-O wanted to put a track out every week starting Jan 1st. I was with it, so we released Ayoo to myspace. As the buzz grew, we're on week 20 and its on every site, magazines are calling me and people are losing their mind over the quality being delivered for free.

Dub MD: What's your label situation like just now?
Mickey Factz: I'm signed to my own label GFCnewyork. Currently I'm in talks with finding the right distribution to properly handle the outsourcing of my music.

Dub MD: What do you think is your most defining and unique characteristic that sets you apart from every other emcee out there?
Mickey Factz: The fact that you can put any kind of beat on and I will gladly dismantle it. Every artist won't rap over a techno joint and still be respected. I will though. So I'd have to say I'm fearless.

Dub MD: If you could describe yourself as an emcee in 4 words, What would they be?
Mickey Factz: Best, The, Am, I. I said it already on Vietnam which is the first song on Heavens Fallout. Bet you wasn't expecting that one Dub. (Laughs)

Dub MD: For your fans who haven't seen you perform yet, are you planning on going on tour anytime soon?
Mickey Factz: Currently I'm in the works on touring with some artists. Nothing is concrete yet, but once things are finalized and situated it will be announced properly. Feel me?

Dub MD: What is on tap for Mickey Factz for the rest of 2008 and beyond?
Mickey Factz: More blogs, more mags, more groupies, more concerts, more hate, more love, more supras and more leaks. I can't be stopped right now.

Dub MD: Do you have anything to say to the fans? anything you wanna get off your chest? any shout outs?
Mickey Factz: I love my fans. I do this for you guys. Tell a friend to tell a friend about Mickey Factz. Don't worry about if I'm gonna run outta music. Worry about your hard drive being able to store all the music I'm giving you guys. And I propose a toast to humanity. Keep striving for a better place. Guggenhiem!
