Long Beach, California native King Official hooked up with Lunatic 63 of raptalk.net to bring our readers a very exclusive interview.

This new talented MC is currently prepping his debut project which is to be titled "Enter The Exit" at this time. Read all about that and more in this one on one interview.

Q: We're here with King official, how's it going man?

I’m chilling man; trying to survive this heat out here in Cali.

Q: I feel that. Start us off by giving us the rundown on how and why you chose your rap name to be King Official.

Well, I'm From Long Beach, California!  I am the oldest out of two brothers and three sisters. I decided to change my name to King Official once I met Topic & Ervin Pope.

Before then I went through a lot of rap names; but the reason why I decided to stick with King Official was mainly because the word King is similar to a Monarch which means a sole and absolute ruler of a state or nation or a person or thing that holds a dominant position. I feel like I am that person as far as the young dudes in my age group, and then official was just something I got because of the swag and swift hooks that I put together.

Q: Good explanation. Who were your musical influences while growing up in Long Beach?

Well it’s funny, because I grew up listening to 2nd II None, Too Short, Dj Quik, 2 Pac, Snoop Dogg, & Wu-Tang. So those would definitely have to be some of the influences, but as I got older started to move toward Jay-Z, Nas, Outkast, Dre, Xzibit, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Talib Kweli, and Slum Village.

Q: Great list. How was it like growing up in Long Beach, California?

It wasn’t as rough as you think it would be… well at least growing up where I did; which was down the street from Jordan High school, and then I moved toward Poly High School later on. I wasn’t really outside like most of the young kids my age - I was in the house writing in my handbook, playing on the karaoke machine, ya dig?

Q: So you never get into a lot of trouble nor have any run-ins with the law?

Nah, never had any run-ins with the law.

Q: That is positive to hear. Let’s get into the music side of things - We recently premiered a brand new track of yours "What's Gud". Tell us about which project that song will appear on?

What's Gud”... Yeah, that track to be honest, I might put it on my next project titled "Enter the Exit" [The Quest of A King] as a hidden track. I am still debating on that; but if not then you guys can definitely get as a solo street single.

Q: When can we expect “Enter the Exit” that to drop?

“Enter The Exit” [The Quest of a King], we’re lookin at sometime late this summer.

Q: That is an interesting title; care to explain the motivation behind it?

Enter the exit? Basically, the average person is going to go through the front door which is the entrance; also which is exactly what everybody is doing industry wise, but by taking a detour and going through the back door which is the exit, I’m coming with something brand new and something that has never been done. It’s brand new; it’s fresh, and different! I’m entering the exit, feel me? Self-explanatory.

Q: Quite the explanation. Will it be dropping via free download or purchased?

Free download homie, just something for the streets. The REAL album is going cost you some chips (laughs).

Q: Is there going to be a DJ hosting it or will the music be left untagged?

There is definitely going to be a DJ hosting it. I am still trying to figure out which one I am going to roll with though. There is a lot out there, as a matter of fact, shout to all the DJ’s!

Q: What do you want to accomplish with this project?

Basically, I’m looking to get a solid deal off of this project because I am unsigned at the moment. I’ve been working on it for about a year or two so, I think it’s somewhat developed to now take full force, but not only that; It’s something brand new to the ears and for the west coast. It’s definitely something that is going to start up a new Epidemic.

Q: Long Beach is known for its deep pool of talent such as artists like Snoop Dogg and Warren G; what can you add to the Long Beach legacy?

I can add a fresh new sound and a young generation to follow through with what was already there from the jump. One of the things that I see missing out here on the west the most is the lyrics, which is something that I definitely can provide.

Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully where Jay-Z and 50 Cent are now (laughs).

Q: Do you have any last words for the fans before I let you go?

Shouts out to: Avanege, Dimdalytes, Rashadd, Sel Davis, PC, Doja Dro, Stonebeatz, and my Nigga Topic from West Covina!

Last but not least, JOHN THE BUSINESS MAN A.K.A. my pops! Lookout for me in 2008 crashing through 2009 with a bang!

Also lookout for the new single titled “Slumber Party” by O’So Krispie Feat. King Official! The video is set to air on BET, MTV etc.
