Dub MD: Doap Nixon, What's good? Doap Nixon: Nothing man getting ready to bless the rap world with something heavy! Dub MD: For those who don't know, could you just give a short review of what you've experienced in your rap career up until now? Doap Nixon: Ups downs twist and turns but it was all worth it cause it gave me a vision called "Sour Diesel". I been in this game for a while like 15 years and i seen people come people go, but its been a while since a album came out you could listen through front to back. Dub MD: Coming from Philadelphia, what do you think of the Philly music scene right now? Doap Nixon: We back on the rise, when Jay-Z was grabbing every rapper and their moms a few years ago, people got a glimpse of Philly, but in the underground scene Philly been getting it in, and now we are getting that exposure and thats credit to the people who made it possible, the Jedi Mind Tricks and the Black Thoughts. Dub MD: What do you think of the commercialisation of Hip Hop right now, do you think its showing respect to its pioneers? Doap Nixon: Not at all but its a business and fast ways to make cash never deal with princaples, its all about sucking whatever produces cash bone dry and move on to the next hustle. i dont even listen to the radio at all! The music these days are so lame without disrespecting anyone i cant think of one good song out on the radio right now. 100% real when i was making this album it was more of an obligation than entertainment, the game really needs something people can relate to. Dub MD: Do you have a new album in the works? what's it called? and what can heads out there expect from it? Doap Nixon: Sour Diesel drops July 22nd (In Stores Now) and if people follow me or Army Of The Pharoahs they know what its hitting for, but if you dont nice to meet you and prepare to get your love for hip-hop back! Dub MD: With this project, what artists & producers are you connecting with this time round? Doap Nixon: On this album my featues were in the family A.O.T.P. (Jedi Mind Tricks, Outerspace, Reef The Lost Cauze, King Syze, King Magnetic) and ouside of that my right hand Good Money , Nature (from The Firm) and Cynthia Holliday. As far as producers, i got heavyweights Snowgoons, Undefined, Stu Bangas, Chris Kearns Vanderslice, Rythmatic and J. Scrilla and a French producer Cence. Dub MD: Where do you get the inspiration to write the type of material you do? What was the writing process like on this album? Doap Nixon: Like i said it was more of an obligation so i was motivated off just trying to bring some balance back to the game and when i was writing i was making songs for the underground but knew other people could relate to it. basically this album is for everybody. Dub MD: You've got a pretty large following / support online, How important do you feel the internet is to an independent Hip Hop artist nowadays? Doap Nixon: Incredibly supportive cause on a indie label the cream aint flowing like it should so you need thast exposure so people in Austrailia and Japan can get a chance to feel you. as for the following people are thirsty for something real and i gladly supplied them with this album Dub MD: Your part of the infamous Jedi Mind Tricks / Army Of The Pharoahs movement, How did that situation come about for you? Doap Nixon: I grew up around Outerspace and King Syze and Vin would come through like on some house party shit and they use to kill the mic, I was always on some try to look cool shit so I let them shine. but one day I was like I think I can get it in and from there on we became each other supporters. Jedi Mind Trick through me on their first single B-side Launage Is Fatal and ever since then Vin been holding the kid down Dub MD: What do you think is your most defining and unique characteristic that sets you apart from every other artist out there? Doap Nixon: My ability to relate to the masses, i dont have a specific fan base. alot of genre like my music cause of the universal approach i brought with this album. kids who dont even like hip hop compliment me on songs they heard and thats the blessing. not the money or fame, its when a person tells me they feel me. Crazy! Dub MD: If you could describe yourself as a emcee in 4 words, What would they be? Doap Nixon: D.O.A.P. (Dope) Dub MD: For your fans who haven't seen you perform yet, are you planning on going on tour anytime soon? Doap Nixon: Yeah i'll be with Jedi Mind Tricks and them in October. tearing the east coast up and probally do a lil west coast cause im in the process of alot of projects and like i said one needs balance. but this tour coming up is gonna be a banger! Jedi Mind Tricks is planning their best tour as of yet. better get your tickets now cause they are almost sold out in every city, and im pleased to be a part of it. Dub MD: What is on tap for Doap Nixon for the rest of 2008 and beyond? Doap Nixon: We are currently getting ready to go in on the new A.O.T.P. album and lookout for the up coming albums. King Syze - Labor Union out August 5Tth, then Outerspace - God'S Fury out September 22nd, then the highly anticipated Jedi Mind Tricks album - History Of Violence in October. I'm on all of them and it was an honor to partake in all of them. as well as the QD album - Untitled (TBA). Dub MD: Do you have anything to say to the fans? anything you wanna get off your chest? any shout outs? Doap Nixon: Listen, don't give up on that real hip hop, the bullshit era is quietly fading fast and real niggaz is making music. if you arent sure what i mean, grab Sour Diesel and push play and you will understand what i mean. i promised the rap world a classic and i gave them a classic and 1/2. enjoy it embrace it, but most of all respect it. cause its only the beginning. Fake niggaz, eat a dick and die. Philly I love you and thanx to all my supporters who believed in me. it means the world. knowledge knowledge, Peace!
