Raptalk.Net caught up with Jizzal Man of Dem Franchize Boyz to discuss the group's new album "Our World, Our Way" being released September 30th and a whole lot more!
Raptalk.Net: We are here with Jizzal Man of Dem Franchize Boyz; let everybody know how you’re doing right now? Jizzal Man: I’m feeling good, how are you doing? Raptalk.Net: I’m doing well, thanks! Are you ready to get right into this? Jizzal Man: Hell yeah, I’m ready when you are! Raptalk.Net: Perfect! The new album “Our World, Our Way” is the follow-up to “On Top Of Our Game.” What was the main difference in terms of recording this album compared to the last one? Jizzal Man: Well on this album right here, we really put a lot into it. We really went 100 on it. We’ve grown and everybody (in the group) has matured and has stepped it up since the last album. It’s been almost two years since our last album. We really put a lot into this album and we even reconstructed it twice. We took songs off and put new ones; replaced others. It’s a real incredible album. Raptalk.Net: The group signed a deal with Koch Records to release this album. Tell us about the decision to roll with Koch over any other label? Jizzal Man: I’m very being over at Koch. I love our situation at Koch. They understand the independent grind and our movement. They understand how it’s all about putting work in. If anybody knows Dem Franchize Boyz, that’s we’re all about. That’s how we came into the game. We share the same vision over there at Koch. It was a pleasure and a dream come true to make it happen over there and to do our thing. Raptalk.Net: The album is entitled “Our World, Our Way” and is being released September 30th. What does the title mean to you? Jizzal Man: “Our World, Our Way” means that every time we come out, every song we make, we do our own beats, our own lyrics and when we come out, we came more visual on this one, our way. Welcome to “Our World, Our Way” on this album. This album is titled that because we’re bringing people to our world and showing them how we do it, our way. Raptalk.Net: I like that. Tell us about the production on the album. Jizzal Man: We got production from Mannie Fresh, T.I., Nitti, Maestro, Marvelous J, Bangladesh – the list goes on and that’s why everybody has to support the cause September 30th by going to get “Our World, Our Way.” It’s what you want and it’s what you need – it’s definitely worth having. Raptalk.Net: Ok. Tell us about the guest appearances. Jizzal Man: We have Lloyd on the album. We also have some artists from our own label on the album. For those who don’t know, we do have our own label. We really didn’t go out and grab a whole bunch of features this time. Before we reconstructed the album, we had a gang of features on it, but we didn’t want to put it out like that. We wanted to give our artists some shine. It’s like that, but we went crazy with producers. Raptalk.Net: How do you feel his album stands up against the first two? Jizzal Man: I mean the previous two were very good albums. This right here is an incredible album. Raptalk.Net: OK. Dem Franchize Boyz is the first group that ever went platinum on ring tones. Do you like you don’t get enough respect for that achievement? Jizzal Man: I feel like we don’t get enough respect for a lot of the stuff that we’ve accomplished. We’re one of the only rap groups that are still together right now. We’re the first rap group that got discovered on the underground in mainstream ways. Before you heard “White Tee” you didn’t hear any other underground music in the mainstream. All you heard was what was mainstream and what was on the television. A lot of people don’t give us our acknowledgement. We don’t hold any grudges or anything like that, just tip your hat to us and give us our little acknowledgement. We have passed the baton down, appreciate that. We’re all around musical people and that’s what this album is about. People know us from our snap records or whatever, but our snap records are just what they know of. That’s the people who didn’t really listen to our albums. On this album, we’re grown – we’re 25, 26 years and old and we’ve matured since the last album. We’re letting them know we’re on some big boy stuff now. People are going to see us for the artists that we really are. Raptalk.Net: Thanks a lot for your time Jizzal Man, that’s all the questions I have for you. Do you have any last words for the fans before I let you go? Jizzal Man: “Our World, Our Way” September 30th, that’s when it comes out. Everybody support the cause! I know a lot of people have been waiting for us for a long time. We’re gratefully honored to give them this album on September the 30th. I appreciate all the fans for showing that love – we show it back. Holla’ at your boy!
