Raptalk.net this week got the opportunity to catch up with one of Detroit's best up coming emcees Tre Little. Most know Tre Little from his days as a member of Royce Da 5'9's group D-Elite and being the hypeman for the Detroit Legend, along with his collaborations with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Kelis, The Clipse etc but now going it alone with a whole new career focus. Tre sits down with Rap Talk to speak on his experiences so far, his thoughts on the Detroit music scene and his plans for the future including all his new projects hitting the streets and online soon.

Dub MD: Tre Little, What's good?

Tre Little: I'm chilling Dub you know, just trying to get it in this year!

Dub MD: For those who don't know, could you just give a short review of what you've experienced in your rap career up until now?
Tre Little: For those who don't know I've experienced so much during my music career let's call it that cause it's beyond rap at this point. Let's start by saying I been around so many different forms of this urban music we created and I've come to really appreciate it all. I've been to so many country's, so many U.S. city's I've been around everyone literally every one and I feel like I'm Just starting to believe it a reality! So with that said let's review Tre Little experiences. I've started with B.O. (Cutty Mack), Royce, and Jha (June Bug) and did the Detroit Hip Hop thing for awhile until we got on! long story short..I been in the studio with some incredible people Royce, Eminem, Jay Dilla whom when I was dancing with his little brother earl and playing Nintendo in his basement was just djing He got on came picked me up in his F 150 and did my first 2 songs for my group Truz so imagine the first time I ever write a song it's with Dilla so you know I was meant to get in!

Anyway I've done so many songs with Pharrell, Kelis, The Clipse, Proof long day's with Premier, Alchemist, I was the thought behind hip honey's believe it or not. You know I was there for the lyricist lounge tour with Eminem, I actually went on the lyricist lounge tour with Royce and Fat Joe. I mean I've been in it for real You know tour with Usher then turn around Tour with Nelly, then turn around then be in Europe with Frank N Dank. I've experience so much and I heard so much but you know out of all that time I've never done nothing for myself cause I was supporting my Dude but because we all played our roles we were able to put ourselves in position to let our music be heard so that's just the beginning.

Dub MD: Coming from Detroit, what do you think of the Detroit music scene right now?
Tre Little: I've always like the Detroit music scene see Detroit is like all of music because if your not part of that particular sound it could get annoying but since I am Detroit in every sense of the word. I can listen to a Guillty, then turn around and listen to a John Drama, or a Quest Mcody, get dressed go to my car and bump Blade Icewood because I am all those people so I love the Scene here because it's so many different sounds. I just hate that all these different sounds always have something negative to say about each other when they just need to know there from different environments so of course there gonna be totally different sounds feel me!! Example I went to a hip hop function where it was people like you Invincible, The Woof Pac, Marv Won people who can actually get it in they way they do anyway I was with one my gangsta's for gangsta and he's a well known Detroit rapper he couldn't stand them said there sound was soft all the way home!

But I schooled him on there rhyme patterns and how they relate to themselves in their music and he understood that they were two totally different people with two different talents but each great at what they do!! And that comes from me being able to go to Munich and see hip hop or go to a hip hop spot in London, France or the hood joint in Shreveport, Louisiana, or St. Andrews in Detroit, Or the local Gang bang spot in Compton where all they do is talk guns and murder but that's them so who could knock em? What I'm getting too is Detroit is like the rest of America far as hip hop. There's so many different forms of music how could you say that's ones wack or there disrespecting someone I can't.. cause I'm sure you've been around If you walk into a room full 25 different people most people would look for the group that identify's with them the most and congregate towards that side of the room.. the hip hop dressed a start talking to each other, you know the suites would be together, the street black kids would probably get together you dig? But there's going to always be one person who will be cool with everybody that's the one who's identified himself with everybody so he's outside the box that's your commercial person!

And once everyone realizes it's bigger than music at this point we can actually communicate with each other. Lupe has a chance to communicate with the skateboarders, the gang bangers, Malibu white girl, the U. K. underground hip hop battler that's if can he make everybody identify with him? feel me? Soulja boy sold 600,000 copies he's not that big it's just 600,000 bright teenagers out there who like to dance and be kids in a grown up industry. I don't buy him cause I cant relate to him. So why worry about him destroying hip hop how many artist whom sold 600,000 copies one year become totally irrelevant the next? It would be time to worry about hip hop if 10 million people related to soulja boy feel me!

Dub MD: What do you think of the commercialisation of Hip Hop right now, do you think its showing respect to its pioneers?
Tre Little: I don't know how the pioneers got disrespected by commercialised music?

Dub MD: Do you have a new project in the works? what's it called? and what can heads out there expect from it?
Tre Little: I got a three part mixtape series coming out called the past, present, future! The first is "The Past" which is all my collaborations over the years Royce Da 5'9", The Clipse, Eminem, Jim Jones, Agallah Da Don Bishop, J.R. Writer, Blade Icewood, Kool Savas, you know D-elite, Elzhi a lot of Detroit people, So much more I might have to make that a double disk, "The Present" will be me going in over new beats with different artist just lyrically going hard cause I'm not to be fucked with on the mc end!!! Then there's "The Future" which is an original mixtape produced entirely by my dude Young Viz. This will let everybody know pretty much that nobody wants to go song for song with Tre Little. Then it's the album which will be on a major, The album is gonna come out under Crown Jewel / whoever has the most money!

Dub MD: With this project, what artists & producers are you connecting with this time round?
Tre Little: The Album will prove I'm that 1 person in the room that everyone else identifies with.. Production will be by Capo formerly of The Trackboyz, Black Milk, Ric Riggler, Polow Da Don I gotta fuck with Trick Trick that's the big homie, Sick Notes, and I wanna find new producers so If you sick hit me up for real
www.myspace.com/trelittle.

Dub MD: Back in the day you were in a group with Royce Da 5'9" called D-Elite, Whats your relationship like with Royce these days?
Tre Little: Yeah me and Royce had a group called D-Elite everybody's fine! Royce is still going hard I was with him a couple months ago were still good that's something that's going to always be there that's one of my best friends you know. And plus I heard his new Album quote this "Best Rapper Alive"!

Dub MD: What's your label situation like just now?
Tre Little: My label is crown jewel which I co-own with my sister Cha Cha and my Bra Will! We signed Misfit Dior she's from the U.K. she's insane now she's with the sickest team in America. I haven't been shopping my music but for two months and the response is insane but I am dope as fuck! (Laughs)

Dub MD: What do you think is your most defining and unique characteristic that sets you apart from every other emcee out there?
Tre Little: What set's me apart from every emcee out there is my life cause it's mines and when I spit I become something you want to be a part of. Like I said I'm that 1 that everyone fucks with plus I spit stupid what do you expect I run with Slim, and Royce I ain't no slouch.

Dub MD: If you could describe yourself as an emcee in 4 words, What would they be?
Tre Little: Four words to describe me as an emcee? A Mother Fucking Poblem!

Dub MD: For your fans who haven't seen you perform yet, are you planning on going on tour anytime soon?
Tre Little: Yeah I plan on actually coming to Europe with Misfit and I'll be all over the U.S. this year while I'm recording the album.

Dub MD: What is on tap for Tre Little for the rest of 2008 and beyond?
Tre Little: So here it is people Tre Little's home I'm finally speaking so buckle up it's going to be a long ride. I feel honestly like I am the one there's nobody I've run across except that's ready to go song for song with me and I intend on proving it!

Dub MD: Do you have anything to say to the fans? anything you wanna get off your chest? any shout outs?
Tre Little: All my people that's fucks with me holla at me at
www.trelittle.com you dope wanna collaboration hit me if you dope I'll fuck with you. Crown Jewel and rest of Detroit I'm here now! A wise man once told me every nigga in here is one hit away!
